Please join us for a magical evening and an incredibly fun-filled day. Support our friends with disabilities. Make gifts for seniors & veterans. Join the 1,000,000,000 card challenge!

We are celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month by featuring local artisans with disabilities who will be selling their products. This free community event will raise awareness of the employability of people with disabilities as well as to raise funding for REAP. All funds generated by the auction will help to support REAP’s skills training and employment programs for people with disabilities. 100% of funds generated by the individual artisans will be kept by the artisans.

Online Auction Details: REAP’s Bidding For Good online auction has finished. The auction will continue at the Artisan Showcase. Good luck to all!

Why the Artisan Showcase: Last February’s Artisan Showcase was a great success for the artisans who participated. The five that participated sold much of their product if not all and also gained something else: pride. The artisans didn’t just wow the guests, but also their families who got to witness them talk about their products. They weren’t just another guy with a disability, but actually a professional who had a talent that the community valued. This November, we welcome many more artisans as well as invite the past artisans back. They all can’t wait to show you what they have to offer.

Why REAP:    As of September 2014, according to the September 2014 US Department of Labor Report, only 1 in 5 people with a disability have been able to find employment and the unemployment rate for people with disabilities is more than twice as high as it is for people with disabilities. What REAP (Richmond Entrepreneur’s Assistance Program) has been doing is providing comprehensive training of transferable job skills that individuals with disabilities need to be employable. Using a social enterprise model, REAP has two businesses to support their training: Heart to Heart Gift Baskets & Packaging and New 2 U Sports. REAP has prepared 111 individuals for employment within REAP businesses or within the community, by focusing not just on skills but also on every individual’s value and worth.

See last February’s event to get a feel for how magical the Artisan Showcase will be.
